Word of the Day

“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:24-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And that they may recover themselves out of the snare. This text means to return to soberness, to regain one's senses. Why do we need to regain our sense, the answer is because we have been deceived. We were deceived in the Garden, according to the scriptures all men fell in Adam 1 Corinthians 15:22. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines captive as: held under control of another but having the appearance of independence. If we follow the logic of scripture then before salvation we are the captives of the Devil. And if we are captives then we are held under his control and we were never free to begin with. Because of our weak condition we need a savior, some one who is great enough, strong enough, and powerful enough to liberate us from the power of the Devil. "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." John 8:36. The only person who could liberate us was Jesus. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4:18-21‬
