WORD FOR THE WISE: PROVERBS
PROVERB 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
The God of the Bible is not like the pagan deities of the world. He cannot be manipulated or forced into action; He cannot be bribed or swayed. Nor will he allow men to presume upon Him, and still find Him favorable. This proverb clearly warns us that God is not obligated to hear us, especially when we refuse to hear Him! When we have turned away from the hearing of God’s law through the preaching and teaching of His Word, our very prayers become an offense to God. This is because GOD VALUES REALATIONSHIPS! We have despised Him, yet seek His provision! We may seek Him, but not as the END of our prayers, but as the MEANS to granting our desires! But God desires a true and honest heart toward Him in the matters of prayer. Go back to His word, and seek Him there, so that your prayers might be conformed to His truth and not to the deceifulness of your own heart.
