WORD FOR THE WISE: PROVERBS

PROVERB  27:18 Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured. 

Waiting on the Lord never means idleness. Whether we are waiting on the Lord's providence in our lives for a season, or we are waiting ultimately for His return to take us to glory, we are called to serve in his kingdom as we wait. The wisdom of being employed in His service is seen in the resulting fruit that blesses both the one being ministered to, as well as the minister himself. We must guard the fig tree, representing that which our Master, the Lord Jesus has entrusted to us-His word, and the gospel therein! We must cherish it, and protect it, and delight in it, so that we eat if it, and are nourished by it ourselves. If you have been entrusted with the gospel, be thankful that God has put you in His service, find your place, stand, and guard what He has given you with your very life, for through it, He has given you life eternally!
