WORD FOR THE WISE: PROVERBS
PROVERB 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
Seeking to COVER our sins has been our natural reaction to the guilt and shame we feel once we have violated God's law since the very fall of Adam. But the wisdom of the gospel admonishes us to CONFESS our sins to a God that is ready and willing to show mercy. We will never experience the prosperous favor and grace of God apart from being honest with him and trusting in the meritorious sacrifice of His Son Jesus, who lived and died as a substitute for sinners. Once we have confessed, we then must FORSAKE our sin. Such is the heart of true repentance, and the answer to all of our problems 's concerning sin. This is the call of the gospel!
