WORD FOR THE WISE: PROVERBS

PROVERB 19:11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

The Glory of the Gospel is God's wisdom in passing over the sins of His people. On the part of the redeemed sinner, God defers his anger concerning them. Yet His wrath has still been kindled towards their sin. But where does this wrath go? Does God merely act as if their sins don't exist? Not at all! His Just and Holy character demands the punishment of EVERY sin! But, Rather than pour out His wrath upon certain sinners, God sent His Son to be their Representative and Substitute. And on that cross, all of God's fury and anger due toward them for their own sins was directed toward His Righteous Son, that they might escape their own judgement! Oh, How can the Christian ever get over this reality? For their very life and forgiveness depended upon God's discretion, His wisdom in finding a way to uphold His law, satisfy His Justice, save sinners, and glorify Himself!
