WORD FOR THE WISE: PROVERBS

Fwd: PROVERB OF THE DAY: 12:26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

JESUS not only demonstrated,  but also called us to a life that excels that of the merely outwardly religious. In Mt 5:20, He said, "For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven." The seductive nature of false religion, although opposed to Christ, is that these things have "an APPEARANCE OF WISDOM in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body"(Col 2:23), but it cannot remedy Sin. Yet, true piety is rooted in the fear of God, as a response to a Holy God. The Christian life ought to excel that of the worldling because of the indwelling Spirit, a renewed mind, new passions, and the promise of glory, as He is conformed daily to the image of Christ.Yet he is not proud, because his true standing with God is one based on GRACE.
