WORD OF THE DAY
John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
This quote comes directly from the mouth of Jesus Christ, and what He was saying is that He himself is the focus of all scripture and that through faith and belief on Him is the only chance for spiritually poor sinners to be saved. Now according to Romans 3:23 all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. That means that every single person ever born was a sinner. There is none perfect or righteous except for Jesus Christ. 1 John 3:5 says that Christ never sinned. Under the Covenant of the Law the only way to earn eternal life was to completely follow all of the laws given by God to Moses, because of the sin of Adam in the garden and the sin nature that was passed on through Adam to all of mankind we could never perfectly follow the Law and therefore we were all doomed and bound for Hell. However, Jesus Christ left glory and came into the world. He lived out a prefect life with no sin, and then He took the place of sinners and suffered under the wrath of God in their place. By never sinning and obeying all of the law Christ earned eternal life for himself and then He gave the gift of eternal life to all those who would come to Him.
