Word of the Day

“Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.”
‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭20:17

Stand ye still and see the salvation of the Lord. This is not the first time these instructions were give to the people of Israel. “And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” Exodus‬ 14:13-14. Standing still shows that we are powerless to save ourselves and removes all glory from man. Standing still puts on display the awesome power of God. By standing still we are humbly coming God with the understanding that He is the only one who can save us. We are submitting to the sovereign mercy of God. The word salvation means preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin, or loss. Standing still is a passive act that shows, that preservation and deliverance must come from a source that is outside of ourselves. “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”Matthew‬ ‭28:18‬. All power means all power, there is no battle that is Christ can not win, no problem that Christ can solve. Matthew 19:26 says that with God all things are possible. When God is with us nothing an no one can stand against us. Proverbs 28:1 says that the righteous are as bold as lions. They are not afraid because the Lord of host is with them. “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.” 2 Chronicles‬ ‭16:9‬. Believers are to find their confidence in Christ and in Him alone. Stand still and place your trust in the King of kings and Lord of Lords. Acts 16:31
