WORD OF THE DAY
“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”2 Timothy 2:24-26 KJV
This text of scripture deals with a few different topics. One topic is how believers are to interact with nonbelievers. As a believer we are all servants of the Lord, that means that we are not free to do our own will we are driven to do the will of God. We are to believe, live out and preach the Gospel to others who are dead in their trespasses and sins. We are not to beat people over the head to believe in Christ we are to teach with meekness and patience. The reason for this is because nonbelievers even though they are not aware of it but they are opposing themselves, they are traveling down a path to death. “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death" Proverbs 14:12. Apart from Christ there is no life. “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:11 Following after Christ is the only sure way. This is part one more to come in the following weeks.
