WORD OF THE DAY

“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:24-26‬ ‭

If God peradventure will give them repentance. What does the text really mean? There are some that would say that salvation is the result of a person making a decision or choosing to repent and confess their sins. However, that concept goes against what the scriptures preach. God gives to elect sinners many different gifts and one of those gifts is repentance. According to this text within ourselves apart from Christ, we sinners do not have the ability to repent. In our proud, foolish and unregenerate mind we are enemies of God. In God's mercy He brakes down the door of our hearts and grants us a gift that leads to salvation, the gift of repentance. When a sinner repents that means that they are making know a truth that God sees and knows already, that we are nothing more than filthy sinners who if left to ourselves would surely perish. To the acknowledging of the Truth. The Truth is a person, and His name is Jesus Christ. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Belief in Christ is the only way for a sinner to be saved. If we reject Christ who is the Truth we have no hope. “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭16:31‬ ‭KJV
