WORD FOR THE WISE: PROVERBS
PROVERB 4:25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
The eyes are the portal into the soul. They symbolize our capacity towards spiritual perception, understanding, and discernment. As we seek to walk the path of those justified by the grace of Christ, we may look in every direction, but that which is most critical is straight ahead, to the One who has gone before us. For we follow Christ, and He leads His sheep in the way of righteousness. He is the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Heb 12:1-4)! Our pre-occupation then, is that we see Him! It is very easy to be distracted by the cares of this world and it's flesh-enticing propositions, but we are guarded from all of these by the wisdom of a constant, intentional LOOKING TO CHRIST. Are you looking for Him in all the Scriptures? In the preaching of His Word? In your life's providence? Look straight, and look to Him, and you will not utterly fall.
