WORD FOR THE WISE: PROVERBS

images5JOG4O1W

PROVERB 5:22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. 5:23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

Sin is not a thing to play with. In our deception, our hearts will convince us that we may dabble in iniquity, and maintain a steady course with God. But not so! The moment the imagination of the thought of sin comes, we must fight, so as not to be entangled by its cords. When sin grabs ahold of us, we find we are not as strong as we had imagined. But this is because in order to entertain such imagination, we would have had to first set aside God's word, which clearly instructs us to flee from sin(2 Tim 2:22/1 Cor 10:14), to resist the devil and temptation (Jam 4:7), that our desperately wicked hearts cannot be trusted(Jer 17:9), and that God is faithful, with temptation, to make a way of escape (1 Cor 10:13). But when God's wisdom is rejected, our end can only be ruin.
